MICHA is a Gorgeous, Young, BROWN TABBY MAINE COON with green eyes. She is 3 years old, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV/ FeLV, No heart murmur detected. She is microchipped and has her claws. She currently weighs a little over 12 lbs, which is appropriate, based on her bone structure, for a female Maine Coon who is still growing. Her beautiful coat, in shades of dark chocolate, caramel, and cream is currently growing out from a modified lion cut.
Micha came to SPCR when her family, who had purchased her as a kitten from a breeder, was no longer able to care for her. Because Micha had been with her family since she was a kitten, she took this move and change in her life very hard. She was confused and upset and it took her a few weeks to begin to settle in to her foster home. Given the time she needed to understand she was safe and loved she has begun to open up and show her personality. Micha now comes looking for pets, and will head bump her foster mom looking for attention. Head and cheek/chin scratches and rubs are her favorite, then of course throw in a few bum scratches too. While she likes attention, she is fine with having time to herself and likes watching bird and squirrel activities outside and lets not forget napping too. She will sleep on the bed with her foster mom, but is usually found curled up at the end of the bed. Although Maine Coons aren’t always known for being a vocal breed, Micha does like to share her opinions about things with her foster parents and sometimes likes things her way, letting them know that she can be a sensitive girl with a little bit of Diva thrown in at this point in time in her life.
She is young and so of course likes to play but is not overly active. She enjoys having you play with her with a wand toy or she will also play with small toys on her own. She especially likes the Yeowww catnip bananas, when they are new and she likes her Kong stuffed kicker sticks too.
Micha has been slowly introduced to her foster homes own cats (a couple that are also Maine Coons) and while she wasn’t thrilled to begin with, as long as she is given the space she desires she can coexist with other easy going cats. She would be fine as an only cat too. Like her foster homes own Maine Coons, she will need to see a groomer at least once a year, to be shaved into a lion cut. She is ok with being brushed on her upper body. Micha prefers dry food over wet, and is a grazer when she eats. She is good about drinking water. She uses her litter boxes 100%.
Her foster parents are being very particular about Micah’s placement, as change is very hard for this girl and we want her next home to be her Forever Home. Hence we are looking for a home where her adopter(s) understand and allow her as much time as she needs to settle in, and won’t rush that process. Also, anyone interested in adopting her MUST have experience with Maine Coons or other large breed cats, like Norwegian Forest Cats, Siberians or Ragdolls. Micha is a big girl and still growing so she needs very sturdy cat trees and large sized cat accessories (scratching boxes and posts and litter boxes). We are looking for an adult only home, on the quiet side, where her adopter(s) own their own home or condo and more settled into their life, as we are looking for stability for her.
