Huxley

HUXLEY is a beautiful, BROWN TABBY BALIESE MIX with medium length fur.  Her expressive eyes are light green and she is 4 months of age and weighs 3.6 lbs.  She is spayed, fully vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, has her claws and has been microchipped to ensure she can always be reunited with loved ones.

Huxley, her littermates, and momma were surrendered to SPCR from an animal shelter when the kittens were about 3 weeks of age.  The mother was already malnourished with too little milk which made the kittens even more vulnerable to health concerns.  She weighed half a pound upon arrival.  The family was transferred to an SPCR foster home where bottle-feeding began immediately to provide supplemental nutrition over the following 6 weeks while transitioning them to eat wet food.  Her bio includes photos throughout her young life.

Huxley is very loving and starts to purr as soon as she knows you’re about to touch her.  She loves to sit in a human’s lap to sleep sprawled out.  In typical kitten-fashion, she loves to play with wand toys like DaBird, with plastic springs, crinkle balls, and toy mice.  She shimmies up sisal poles with ease and scratches on them too.  Without a human present, she sleeps in high perches such as the top of a tower or bookcase (anything accessible).  She and her brother, Kenai, are both athletic as they can jump from the floor to the kitchen island with ease.  They have a lot of energy and play chase through the house before crashing for a nap in a human’s lap.  Huxley has a wonderful purr to communicate her contentment.  Huxley’s fur is like her Balinese mother…silky soft and medium length so easy to maintain.  She also tolerates having her claws trimmed.  Huxley eats Purina Pro Plan Complete and Royal Canin kitten food and several flavors of wet food.  Not surprisingly, she also loves Churu.

As with all kittens, we recommend that two are adopted together or that you have another young kitty in the home.  Huxley is socialized to people but would likely be fearful of children under 10 and of dogs.  Preference will be given to an applicant who is interested in adopting a second kitten from her foster home.
