Hawkeye

Are you looking for a cat that isn’t needy? Isn’t up in your face or always crowding you while your trying to do something important? Who doesn’t particularly care if you work weird hours or come and go frequently? One that won’t want to attempt leaving with visitors or house guests? Well you’re in luck, Hawkeye might just be the guy for you!

Hawkeye is a handsome 2-3 year old Havana Brown. He is neutered, FIV/FeLV negative, microchipped and up to date on his rabies and distemper vaccine. He’s got beautiful brown fur and golden/green eyes. He has all his claws and good litter box manners. Weighing in around 11 pounds he has an athletic build and quite enjoys his dinner. When he isn’t lounging about he is busy racing around and climbing on whatever he can! Although he can be picked up he likes to keep all four paws on the ground or whatever up high perch he has found and watching the household from a safe viewpoint.

This sweet and chatty boy is looking for a very special family. When his foster family first met him, he spent most of his time hiding in high-up spaces, as he was very apprehensive and scared. As he has warmed up he is much more interested in being near people and can be quite affectionate on his terms. Hawkeye had a lot to offer an adopter, but he will require a lot patience. He is not the kind of cat that will have an immediate bond with his new family. His adopters need to understand the relationship will slowly develop over time. He would do best in a house with another cat. He absolutely loves other cats and hasn’t met one he doesn’t want to be friends with. Children would be too much for him. It is unknown how he is with dogs.

While it can take time and patience to help a shy, scared cat build trust and confidence in their new environment in their forever home, watching them grow is incredibly rewarding. The first time they start to interact with you like rubbing against you, is so gratifying and worth the wait. The ideal home for Hawkeye is one that recognizes him for who he is, and doesn’t push or try to turn him into something else. He will be happiest if he has a quiet room to start off with, spending quality one on one time with you while he gets his bearings in a smaller space. He will let you know when he is comfortable enough to explore and venture out of his safe space. Patience is a virtue when it comes to this guy. Once you’ve earned his trust he will really enjoy being around you and eventually warm up to full body pets, belly rubs, and some loud purring.
