George Bailey

Looking for a Lotta Kitty to Love?!! Then say Hello to Handsome GEORGE BAILEY!  He is approximately 1.5 to 2 years old, BROWN MACKEREL TABBY with WHITE DOMESTIC MEDIUM HAIR MIX (perhaps mixed with one of the large cat breeds?)  Currently weighing in at 14.6 lbs. and he carries this weight well on his long frame. He is neutered, up to date on rabies and distemper vaccinations, tested negative for FIV/FeLV and has all his claws.   He has silky soft fur, beautiful almond shaped green with hints of gold eyes and those rounded whisker pads that you just want to kiss along with his cute pink nose.

George Bailey’s  life all of a sudden became anything but wonderful when his original owners decided they didn’t want him anymore and abandoned him just when winter set in.  An angel here on earth, learned of his plight and took him in out of the cold and gave him a warm, safe place to land, but they already had a couple kitties and sadly could not take him in permanently.   They knew someone who knew about SPCR and reached out to see if we could help him find his happy ending and that’s how he found his way to his foster home a couple days just before Christmas.

George B or Georgie,  as his foster mom calls him, is a terrific young cat, who is sweet and affectionate, who now winds his way around his foster moms’ legs rubbing against her and following her around his foster room now chirping and trilling at her.  His personality is a great balance of wanting to be around you, with also being ok with some independence.   He likes to come plop down next to his foster mom to be pet and also loves to be brushed. Although at times he thinks the brush is a play toy and takes it from her hand to toss it about.   Speaking of playing, when he first got to his foster home he was a bit afraid of wand toys and toys that move on their own, but as you can see in the one video, he is playing with wand toys now and he loves them! He also loves catnip filled toys and will play with other small toys on his own too. As most cats do, he loves watching the birds and what’s going on outside his foster rooms windows while sitting in a bed of a cat tree and then he’ll fall asleep there.  He eats both wet and dry food and uses his litter box 100%.

The best home for Georgie Bailey would be one with a more quiet environment as he does start out on the shy side and lots of fast movements and loud noises can send him hiding.  Once he gets to know you you’ll see his personality, as mentioned earlier,  is a wonderful balance of wanting to be with you but having an independent side too, so he is fine with being on his own during the day.   He should also be ok around respectful, older kids (10 years and up) that have lived with a large cat before, that would play with him with wand toys.  He is a gentle boy, but he is big, so his foster parents feel he would do best with older kids  because of his size. We know he’d be great as an only cat in a home.  He is interested in other cats, but at this point in time seems to do best, given a slow introduction, with a confident female cat and where they each have their own space to get away to. His foster home does not have a dog, so they are not certain as to how he would be with sharing a home with one, but given a very slow introduction, he might be fine with a dog who has lived with cats before.

This George Bailey still needs help finding his happy ending in a loving forever home where he and his new family will have a wonderful life!
