MERLIN is a 1 year old BLACK SMOKE MAINE COON. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative, and is microchipped. He came into care when his people could no longer care for him or other animals in the home. He is about 12-13 pounds currently, but this breed will continue to grow for a few years.

This boy is an absolute GEM! He loves people and animals alike. He loves to visit with anyone who comes into his foster room. He enjoys playing with a wand toy or any springs. This boy likes to check everything out and see all the things. He is a social guy who wants to be around you and will snuggle next to you.

He does really well with his litter box. He tolerates being held, but due to his size, he is not a fan of hanging out in your arms. He does not mind being brushed. He eats both dry and wet food, but definitely LOVES his wet food.

The vet has determined that Merlin has a slight runny nose and occasional sneezing which is something that is part of his normal. This is something that he will carry with him, but does not seem to bother him as he is doing all of the normal kitty things. To alleviate symptoms, folks often use cerenia nose drops.

He does really well with the resident dogs of both higher and lower energy. He went right up to them to see what they were about and attemped to play with them. He was introduced to the resident cat who is of comparable size. He was respectful and curious with him. He would do best with a cat that is of a similar size and energy level. This guy will likely want a playmate that is confident but laid back. He is a large cat, so small or more fragile kitties would not be an ideal fit for him.  He does well with children, but children who understand boundaries (school aged and up) would be best.
