Tiva
TIVA is a gorgeous and confident, 1 ½ year old, LYNX HIGHLANDER who has 25 toes. Yes, he is a polydactyl who has 6 toes on each of 3 paws and 7 toes on the 4th paw. Most of his toes are fully jointed which gives him increased dexterity to catch Da Bird mid-flight or while sliding across the floor. Tiva is very affectionate and desires to be close to his human companions. He follows or leads the way to the toy room and the cat supply closet where he knows food is stored.
Tiva was surrendered from a family that was heartbroken that his playful nature was not appreciated by their sight-impaired kitties who became terrified as they couldn’t see the pounce heading their way. Tiva is not aggressive, just energetic and playful. He shared a house with multiple cats, dogs, a rabbit, and older children.
Tiva is overweight for his young age yet has lost over a pound in the past 6 months. He will need to remain on a calorie restricted diet that could be canned-food only, or alternately, prescription diet of Hills Metabolic to lose weight. Tiva greatly enjoys having someone play Da Bird with him which is a win-win for exercise and he enjoys Yeowww catnip toys.
Tiva uses good litter-box etiquette and requires a large tote for his business. He begins with a squat to pee, but has elevator-butt over the course of relieving himself so it is best if the box is higher than 12” and at least 30” wide since he is a long cat. Tiva will also need a water fountain with a 2 quart minimum capacity because he drinks that much every 2 ½ days.
He is healthy and has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adopters must have experience with cats to ensure a happy household for all inhabitants.
