Sven
Sven is a Seal, Lynx Point Ragdoll who is a stunning model for his breed. His eye color is like that of the deep blue ocean at varying depths. His fur quality is like that of a soft rabbit. At 3 ½ years of age, he is at the beginning of his maturity as an adult. He weighs 13 lbs, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and is microchipped. Sven is also 4-paw declawed.
Sven was purchased from a breeder as a young kitten by owners who thought they’d have him forever. Unfortunately, their home environment didn’t meet his needs, and his stress manifested as Interstitial Cystitis. Sven had a significant amount of blood in his urine upon arrival to foster care without any other indicators (no stones nor crystals). A round of antibiotics and pain management helped him resolve the immediate symptoms. To help ensure that Sven does not have recurring flares of painful urination, we need to place him an environment that is least likely to cause him stress.
Picking up Sven is like picking up Jello. He melts into your arms as if he has no bones. Similarly, approaching Sven is like a silent command for him to splay out flat onto either his stomach or his back with his back legs straight out behind him. Sven loves to be with people, following like a puppy, rubbing against your legs asking you to relax and spend time with him. He is super affectionate and loves to be groomed as many times per day as you’re willing. This provides easy bonding time with him as every inch of his fur is super silky, like an Alpaca. He is not talkative unless he is lonely or riding in a car (of which he is not fond). Even though Sven is the model of his breed in appearance and many behaviors, he is not entirely a text-book (nor internet) definition of a Ragdoll. He is not just a floor dweller, but also a high, perch seeker. He climbs the cat towers to sit on the wide window sills and watch the mother Robin feed her babies throughout the day. This provides access to the top of the bookcase which is also a favored perch. With his long body and legs, he effortlessly jumps 3’ high and will be able to reach most places in a home.
As a 4-paw declawed cat, it seems to have negatively impacted Sven as a kitten and while growing up in his previous home. In foster care, he has grown beyond the things that bothered him and has become the best version of himself. He will need an adopter to provide the particular litter that he enthusiastically uses…Arm & Hammer Platinum as it is very sandy and easy on his paws. As he may feel more vulnerable than cats who have a way to defend themselves, he needs to be placed into a home where there are no dogs. He enjoyed growing up with an littermate and would do well where up to two other cats would not be assertive. He needs to feel safe and secure. Sven would like for his people to be home a lot, perhaps they would work from home. He would prefer that children be 12 years or older.
Sven needs a home where the humans want to engage with a gorgeous, young cat through playtime, grooming, and affection. Preference will be given to an adopter whose home best allows Sven to enjoy life to the fullest with humans. ADOPTION FEE $400. Fostered in Savoy, IL
