Snowball

SNOWBALL is a FLAME POINT SIAMESE with light blue eyes. He is 1 year old, has his claws, is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative, and microchipped. This strapping boy weighs a little over 11 lbs.

Snowball’s owner encountered health issues which made it difficult for her to take care of him any longer so she asked SPCR if we could take him into rescue and find him a permanent home. His foster mom has quickly become very fond of this sweet, big, endearing and initially a bit shy boy with his light blue eyes, pink nose and soft coat. When he first came into foster care, he wasn’t quite as confident as some cats his foster parents have fostered and he has a tendency to become spooked by noises and quick movements. However, once he trusts his person(s), he evolves into a very loving cat. He comes as soon as he hears his foster mom, enjoys being petted and brushed, and loves having his head rubbed.

While Snowball hasn’t lived with other cats before, he seems very interested in meeting and making cat friends. He and another foster run around playing a bit, and Snowball has also met his foster parents’ own cats without any issues (at least not on his part – his foster mom’s female Siamese is a bit of a bully towards him). Therefore his foster mom thinks that he would actually benefit from having a fur buddy around his own age as long as that other cat is not a bully or domineering. Of course proper and slow introductions are always necessary. He would also do well as a single cat since that’s what he was used to.

Snowball sometimes bats some toys around on his own, and he enjoys it when his foster mom swishes Da Bird or the mink wand toy around for him to catch. Other than that, he is a chill, non-intrusive boy.

Although his foster parents don’t have dogs, he might be okay with a cat friendly dog. He should be fine with older children as long as they aren’t too loud as that would scare him into hiding.

At one point he had some urinary issues, most likely caused by a dry food diet, so his foster mom is keeping him on a urinary wet food diet which he likes and it is healthier for him because it provides proper hydration for his urinary tract and will also help keep his coat soft and silky. This article explains very well why wet food is so important for our feline companions: www.catinfo.org. Therefore, we would like to find him a home that will continue to offer it. He is using his litter box perfectly.
