Sabrina

SABRINA is a lovely SEAL POINT RAGDOLL with blue eyes. She is 5 years old, spayed, front-paw clawed, is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and FeLV/FIV negative. She weighs around 10 lbs.

Sabrina came to us from a shelter where she spent about two months. She was very frightened there and would hiss at any of the potential adopters so the shelter reached out to us to see if we could take her.

Of course, we said yes! Sabrina’s foster mom gave this pretty girl adequate time and space to decompress and feel comfortable. Now that she feels safe, Sabrina has turned into your pretty typical, easy going Ragdoll girl. When she sees or hears her foster mom, she comes over to greet her foster mom. She will often do the famous Ragdoll flip and invites her foster mom to bestow some loving pets. Sometimes her foster mom likes to pick her up for a quick kiss on her forehead. Sabrina appreciates being brushed for a bit, and especially likes rubbing her chin against her brush.

Sabrina enjoys some interaction with the wand toy when her foster mom swishes it around for her to catch and occasionally can be seen batting balls around. For the most part though she is a low-key gal that enjoys hanging out close by her person but doesn’t need the constant entertainment or engagement from a human. She is typically very quiet and will make a perfect companion for someone who enjoys watching a graceful, fluffy feline floating around their home.

Because Sabrina was declawed, Sabrina will need to be adopted by a patient and understanding adopter who is familiar with reading cat body language. For example, when her foster mom overdoes the loving or brushing, she can become a bit reactive. She may express her displeasure by trying to nip, so you want to learn her cues. We see this more often in cats that have been declawed and want to make sure her future family is made aware of this. Because they have lost their primary defense mechanism, declawed cats often resort to nipping or biting to express fear, pain, or dissatisfaction. We certainly cannot blame them for this, since they didn’t ask to have the last bone of each toe amputated.

Sabrina is currently rooming with a laid-back foster cat who ignores her when she hisses at him. She also roomed with a female Persian (who was recently adopted) without any issues. Therefore, a very laid-back cat that would leave her alone would probably work for her, but of course she can easily be an only cat. Her foster parents don’t have dogs, but perhaps a gentle dog who loves kitties might be fine for her. No young children for her.

Sabrina is eating both wet and dry food. She loves her wet food so we would like to find her a home that will continue to offer it. She is using her litter box perfectly.
