Ruby

RUBY is a cute SMOKE TORTOISESHELL PERSIAN with amber colored eyes. She has the squishy face that Persian guardians love so much. She is 13 years old, spayed, is front paw declawed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. She weighs exactly 10 lbs.

Ruby was surrendered to our organization because her previous owners recently had a baby and felt that a crying baby would stress Ruby out. Ruby is currently sporting a lion cut. Once it grows out, her foster mom can only imagine how lovely and colorful her coat is going to be.

Ruby is an independent, quiet little lady, who seems to be perfectly content sitting in her comfy kitty bed while watching the world go by. When Ruby first came into foster care, her foster mom gave her a couple of days to chill out to allow her to decompress. After all, getting uprooted isn’t easy on most kitties, especially the more mature ones.

While Ruby is not an attention seeker like some of her foster mom’s personal or foster kitties, Ruby will now come close to her foster mom for a little gentle stroking and some head rubs. When she is sitting in her kitty bed, she will actually roll over to expose her belly for some soft belly rubs. She is truly a little doll who, in the right environment with someone who doesn’t have a lot of expectations, but just loves having a little cat companion close by, should blossom. Foster mom feels that Ruby might be aware that she is in a transitional home and will open up more every day in her permanent home. However, Ruby’s foster mom is not a psychic nor can she predict how a particular kitty will evolve, so there is that disclaimer.

Ruby has found her inner little play monster with some of the catnip toys her foster mom has offered her. She is one of those lucky Persian kitties that doesn’t have a lot of eye drainage, so she is really a low-maintenance little cat. She is okay getting picked up, but only for a short moment. She is not a lap cat, but perhaps with patience and the right person, she may be okay if someone puts her on their lap after she has gained trust.

Ruby likes both wet and dry food with a definite preference for wet food and specifically salmon flavors. She is using her litter box without any issues. Ruby does not like other cats, so she should be in a home without cats. She might be okay with a cat friendly dog who will leave her alone. Older children who would be respectful of her boundaries should be okay.
