Relic

RELIC is a very handsome 3 year old male LYNX POINT SIAMESE MIX. He is neutered, has his claws, dewormed, microchipped and up to date on shots. Relic tested positive for FIV. What is FIV? It stands for “Feline Immunodeficiency Virus,” and to cats, it’s like HIV is to humans. Like HIV, FIV is a manageable disease. Most FIV+ housecats never develop full-blown FIV and the most common cause of death for FIV cats is old age.

Here are Five Reasons You Shouldn’t Fear FIV Cats. [https://www.catster.com/lifestyle/cat-health-tips-shouldnt-fear-fiv-in-cats-feline-immunodeficiency-virus]

FIV is transmitted to other cats through deep bite wounds.  What about Relic living with other cats? A recently released long-term study done by Purdue University [click here] found that FIV+ cats living in stable households do not spread the disease to non-FIV cats during normal day-to-day interaction. Relic could live with (FIV+ or FIV-) calm cats who would not bully him. Dogs and kids would be too much for him. A nice quiet home would be absolutely perfect for Relic.

Relic has likely lived outside for a good time and he is understandably scared with the recent transition to being an indoor cat. He will need a patient adopter that would be willing to slowly work with him to be comfortable. Right now, he will hide if given the opportunity. He wants to be loved, he really enjoys scratches on his big face cheeks and will purr after forcing some love on him. He is such a sweet boy, even with how scared he has been, he has never so much as hissed or swatted. An ideal environment for him to start in would be a small bathroom with no place to hide. He does enjoy food, so feeding him good food would get him to come around as well.

Relic does have some thin hair on his back. The vet said it looks like an allergy to fleas, so thankfully, those nasty fleas are gone and his coat should fill back in with some good nutrition and time. This man really deserves a wonderful home.
