Pookie

POOKIE is a GINGER TABBY DSH with golden eyes. He is a little over 2 years old, has his claws, is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative, and microchipped. This handsome boy weighs a little over 12 lbs.

Pookie was very much loved by his family, but circumstances beyond their control forced them to rehome him. They didn’t want to take him to a shelter and when SPCR’s foster mom heard about his situation, she promised to help find this sweet boy a loving forever home.

Pookie’s foster mom quickly fell in love with this adorable cat and she now understands what is so special about a ginger kitty (never having had the pleasure of fostering one). A fun fact is that Gingers are known mostly for their calm, mellow, and very affectionate purrsonalitities, and some may even describe them as “Velcro cats.” That description fits Pookie purrfectly. As soon as he sees or hears his foster mom, he comes running over to greet her and to get some pets. Then he jumps on the bed so he can roll around with sheer happiness and elicits some pets, and he allows her to pick him up so she can bestow some smooches on his adorable face. He is truly a ray of sunshine.

While watching TV, Pookie makes himself comfortable right next to his foster mom so he can receive some extra pets, and when she takes a therapeutic nap, he likes to nestle himself between her legs. Pookie’s original owner mentioned that he was used to sleeping in bed with them so he could get his head and face rubbed, so a home where people wouldn’t mind having a little fur bud in their bed would be wonderful for him.

Pookie’s foster mom thinks he makes an excellent therapy kitty because he is so human connected and she is also very impressed by how high he can jump when he catches “Da Bird” in mid flight. He is just one of those special boys that you can’t help but smile when you see him.

Pookie has lived with other cats and dogs, and because he is so easy going, we believe he will make a great family cat for older children who would like to engage in some play time with him.

Pookie eats both wet and dry food and he uses his litter box perfectly.
