POLLY is a gorgeous BLUE SCOTTISH FOLD. Polly is five years old and spayed and has her claws.

Polly came into rescue because her owner could no longer care for her.

This adorable fur baby wears a lush, short blue coat with breed-standard blue nose leather and paw pads, and she has enormous, innocent eyes characteristic of Scottish Folds. As you may know Scottish Folds occurred as a spontaneous mutation in farm cats in Scotland in the 1960s. Unfortunately, the genetic abnormality that causes ear folding in the breed can cause cartilage abnormalities throughout their entire bodies. Individual Scottish Folds can carry one or two copies of the “fold” gene, and cats with two copies are prone to more extreme health problems affecting cartilage and bone.

Polly has small, folded ears. The good news is that we had her tested, and she only carries one copy of the “fold” gene. Our vet has checked her out and given her a clean bill of health. But because she carries one copy of the gene, regular wellness vet care is more important than ever.

This gentle lamb was a bit shy when she first came into rescue, but she has warmed up in the short time she’s been here. She is a loving, sweet kitty who likes to play and socialize with her foster family. She is free-fed kibble, but loves her wet food and gets it twice a day. She is asking to go to a home that will continue to feed it to her.

Polly would fit into most any home. We think with proper introductions, she would get along fine with another fur bud or two. Older, respectful kids would be great. She came into rescue with her son Mickey, who is also posted on our website. Since they’ve always been together, and get along great, adopting them together is certainly an option.
