Pandora
PANDORA is a BEAUTIFUL, Purebred BLUE SILVER CLASSIC TABBY, 4-paw polydactyl, front paw declawed, MAINE COON with stunning green/gold eyes. She is 3 years old, weighs a little over 10 lbs, spayed, UTD on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV/FIV and is microchipped.
Pandora is a wonderful girl, and has been a delightful girl to foster. Like many foster cats she starts out a bit shy when in a new environment and meeting new people, but once she feels secure in her surroundings she shows you what a sweetheart she is. She now always comes to greet me when ever I come into her foster room and always greets me with happy chirps and twills which the breed is known for. She will then follow me around the room until I either sit down on the bed or floor and she will flop down next to me to looking for pets, including a few belly rubs.
She’s young and so loves to play, especially with wand toys with you but will also play with toys on her own too. She has a favorite stuffed llama toy that she also likes you to toss around for her. She does use the cat tree in her room to watch out the window keeping track of where the chipmunks and squirrels and birdies are and also take naps in it during the day. At night she will often sleep either near my feet or to the side of me.
If you have had a Maine Coon cat in your life or are interested in the breed you know the term Gentle Giant is often used to describe their personality. But I think that term can be misconstrued by some to think they are big lap cats. As owners of the breed one of my favorite descriptions I’ve read, that I feel best suits their personality, is the following: A Maine Coon will be your companion, your buddy, your pal, but rarely your baby. So while a couple of ours will sit in my lap on occasion, they typically just want to be where you are rather than being held or laying on you.
At 3 years old, Pandora is still growing. Maine Coons don’t mature until 4-5 years old. Females tend to be on the smaller side so her current weight is where it should be for her age. She eats both wet and dry food, but loves her wet food and her foster home would want her to continue to be fed wet food in her forever home. She uses her 2 litter boxes 100%. Even though she is front paw declawed she does still like to use scratching post and boxes. She is ok with being brushed, but may need to see a groomer once or twice a year to keep her coat and her looking and feeling her best. Because her back paws are also polydactyl, her claws there will need to be monitored often to make sure they are not growing into her pads.
Pandora was surrendered to SPCR by her owners, who purchased her through a breeder, because she was too stressed by the dogs and children in the home and they loved her to much to have her go through life that way. So Pandora is looking for a settled and quiet home environment, with adults only. She has been introduced to some of her foster homes own cats and we know, given a proper introduction, she is fine with other calm cats that won’t bully her. She could also be an only pet too in the home. Of course no dogs or kids.
Her foster mom knows what a treasure this girl is , so if you’ve been looking for a Maine Coon and can offer her the home setting she is looking for I wouldn’t wait to get your application in!
