Mowglee

MOWGLEE is an 8-year-old ACFA registered SEAL LYNX POINT LONGHAIR SELKIRK REX. How’s that for a pedigree? He’s neutered, weights about 10 pounds and has his claws. He’s a very sweet boy who was surrendered to the rescue when his owner could no longer care for him.

Typical of longhair Selkirks, Mowglee has a gorgeous full coat with random unstructured curls scattered throughout. Experts recommend combing Selkirks once a week to prevent matting. But brushing isn’t recommended as it tends to straighten and frizz curly coats. (Mowglee’s foster mom and dad both have curly hair. and they can relate to this advice.) Mowglee needs to have his eyes and face washed daily.

This boy is sweet and loves his foster fam. However, he started out quite shy and it took a few weeks before Mowglee was comfortable around the humans in his foster house. We think that will be the case when he moves to his furever home. So, we favor a quiet house with a patient family that will give this boy time to blossom on his own. Best practice would include a slow introduction to his new home, starting off in a small “safe” room where Mowglee can get to know his new family in measured doses before being given run of the house. A bathroom or small office or bedroom without a bed to hide under is ideal. It could take weeks before he’s comfortable with his new family – but he will get there.

This boy came into rescue missing several teeth and unfortunately several more were infected and needed to be pulled. As a result, Mowglee doesn’t have many teeth left, but the ones he does have are clean, polished and healthy. He loves his wet food and wants to go to a home that will provide it, but also does just fine with kibble in addition.

Mowglee came into rescue with other cats and we think given proper introductions, he‘ll do just fine with a fur bud or two. He’s rooming with Sylvie (also up for adoption), and the two are quite fond of each other. They would love to go home together. Older, respectful kids would be fine. Selkirks are rare in rescue, and registration certificate-carrying cats even more so! This is your chance to have one of your very own.
