Kenai
KENAI is a gorgeous, GRAY TABBY BALINESE MIX with medium length fur. His eyes are blue near the pupils and green to fill in the rest of the corneas. He is 4 months of age and weighs 3.6 lbs. He has been neutered, fully vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, has his claws and has been microchipped to ensure he can always be reunited with loved ones.
Kenai, his littermates, and momma were surrendered to SPCR from an animal shelter when the kittens were about 3 weeks of age. The mother was already malnourished with too little milk which made the kittens even more vulnerable to health concerns. Kenai and a sister weighed 1/3 of one pound upon arrival. The family was transferred to an SPCR foster home where bottle-feeding began immediately to provide supplemental nutrition over the following 6 weeks while transitioning them to eat wet food. When Kenai hears humans talking on the other side of a closed door, he meows to request he get to join them. He is also the first to greet us. Kenai loves to play with wand toys like DaBird, with plastic springs, crinkle balls, and toy mice. He readily climbs the sisal poles of towers and scratches on them besides on cardboard infinity scratchers. He enjoys sleeping on a heated bed or with his sister, Huxley, as they frequently hang out together. They have become super playful, chasing one another through the house. He and Huxley are both athletic as they can jump from the floor to the kitchen island with ease. Kenai has also become very loving and climbs into a human’s lap to get petted and nap after playing chase. Kenai’s fur is like his Balinese mother…silky-soft and easy to maintain, and he tolerates having his claws trimmed. Kenai eats Purina Pro Plan Complete and Royal Canin for kittens. He also eats a variety of wet food. Not surprisingly, he also loves Churu.
As with all kittens, we recommend that two are adopted together or that you have another young kitty in the home. Kenai is socialized to people but would not do well with children under 10 nor with dogs. Preference will be given to an applicant who is interested in a second kitten from his foster home.
