Julius
JULIUS is a Bicolor, RED AND WHITE PERSIAN who conforms to his breed beautifully. He has a dense, cottony coat, smooshed face, and gazing copper eyes. He is a 9.6lb sweet boy who is easily pleased, only complains in a pet carrier, and speaks softly. As he is nearing his 8th birthday (June 5th), Julius received a dental along with his vaccinations. He tested negative for FIV/FeLV, is neutered, has his claws and is microchipped in preparation for a new, loving home.
Unlike any other Persian or Himalayan this fosterer has experienced, Julius absolutely loves to be brushed! He was heavily matted upon arrival so we started by cutting out matts but could then comb out the rest section by section. Julius stretches out his front legs, bares his chest, rolls to expose his belly, and barely takes breaks to circle back for more. He purrs and purrs and nudges against you for more petting and brushing. He is a such a delight! He was quite tolerant to have his front claws trimmed, but the back claws had to wait for a different day. He is also tolerant to have his eyes cleaned daily. His whiskers grow in curls directly back at his own face. This means that an adopter must keep his whiskers cut short as they otherwise poke him in the eyes causing irritation and pus to accumulate. Julius had conditioned himself to keep his eyes squinted closed most of the time so he is still learning that he can now relax with his eyes wide open. Julius was professionally groomed to even out his fur after removing the matting, but his love of being brushed will make it quite easy to be maintained in the home.
Julius has a sensitive digestive system and requires grain-free wet and a little dry food. He develops constipation which is managed by adding Miralax to warm water mixed with his two cans of wet food daily. It can also be administered in a tasty packet of Churu which he readily enjoys. Julius is so sweet and loving that the extra cost of his dietary requirements are absolutely worth the investment to get to share your life with this Persian.
Julius is very affectionate and likes to have access to humans. He follows us for pets, lays beside our leg on the sofa or at our feet, and blesses us with his deep purrs. He enjoys gentle play with a wand toy, catnip, and a variety of other toys he can bat around. When a human isn’t available, Julius sleeps on the sofa or a cat tower and switches up whether it is the top or a hideaway platform in the middle. He especially enjoys having a heated pet bed placed in his favorite locations. He also likes to watch the birds and bunnies out the windows.
Julius is afraid of loud noises. This means he does not wish to live with children under age 12, nor with barking dogs, nor would he appreciate frequent visits from your overbearing neighbor who talks loudly (he would just hide). He would do very well with a retired person who spends time relaxing at home. Julius doesn’t need a big home, he just needs a big hearted human to love. Julius isn’t eager to meet other cats, but it does appear that he will adjust to a cat who is equally laid back. A key element is the adopter must monitor whether Julius is getting constipated which can be more challenging in a multi-cat household. Preference will be given to an adopter whose home best enables Julius to enjoy life with humans and without fear.
