Hayes

HAYES is a gorgeous, GRAY TABBY BALINESE MIX with medium length fur, whose eyes are blue near the pupils and green to fill in the rest of the corneas.  He is 4 months of age and weighs 4lbs.  He has been neutered, fully vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, has his claws and has been microchipped to ensure he can always be reunited with loved ones.

Hayes, his littermates, and momma were surrendered to SPCR from an animal shelter when the kittens were about 3 weeks of age.  The mother was already malnourished with too little milk which made the kittens even more vulnerable to health concerns.  They were transferred to an SPCR foster home where bottle-feeding began immediately to provide supplemental nutrition over the following 6 weeks while transitioning them to eat wet food.   Their mother, Talkeetna, continued to let them use her as a pacifier until the kittens were 12 weeks of age.

Hayes loves to play with wand toys like DaBird, with plastic springs, crinkle balls, and toy mice.  He readily climbs the sisal poles of towers and scratches on them besides lounging on cardboard infinity scratchers.  He enjoys sleeping on high perches, but especially on a heated pet bed and/or with his brother, Kenai, as they frequently hang out together.  Hayes enjoys having his cheeks, head, and back petted and will climb into laps to enjoy the full experience with the warmth of your body.  He has a wonderful purr that occurs spontaneously when the petting begins.  Hayes’ fur is silky and easy to maintain, and he tolerates having his claws trimmed.  Hayes eats both wet and dry food.  Not surprisingly, he also enjoys Churu.

As with all kittens, we recommend that two are adopted together or that you have another young kitty in the home.  Hayes has more confidence to approach when he hears the reassuring purr from a fellow kitty.  He will then join the love-fest to arch his back into petting and climb into your lap.

Haye is socialized to people but would not do well with children under 12 nor with dogs.  Preference will be given to applicants who would like to adopt Hayes and Kenai together.
