Harlow
HARLOW is a CREAM and RED AMERICAN CURL. It is a newer breed developed in the early 80s, and the cats are still quite rare. She has short, sleek fur that is very easy to maintain and has light green eyes. Harlow is 4 months of age and weighs 4.2 lbs. She has been spayed, is fully vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, has her claws and has been microchipped to ensure she can always be reunited with loved ones. The ears on this breed curl back, away from the face. It is a mutation that doesn’t negatively affect other cartilage in the body.
Harlow, her littermates, and momma were surrendered to SPCR when the kittens were about 4 weeks of age. The mother was underweight but was taking great care to meet her kittens’ needs. The family has grown up in foster care with plenty of nutritional support, safety, and toys! Harlow’s bio includes photos throughout her young life.
Of all the kittens in this foster home, Harlow is the biggest foodie among them. Her growth has outpaced her sisters due to her love of wet food. She will need her human caretaker to primarily feed dry food as it helps to keep her appetite and weight in check. Harlow enjoys playing with wand toys, crinkle balls, and toy mice. She thoroughly enjoys climbing up and sleeping on towers. She also likes to have access to a heated pet bed to warm up when a human lap isn’t available. Harlow primarily cries about wanting wet food at the time of day that it is normally provided. Otherwise, she isn’t noisy except to purr when you talk to her and pet her. She conforms to the American Curl breed which is known for being affectionate, playful and kitten-like throughout their lives.
Harlow eats Purina Pro Plan Complete and Royal Canin for kittens. She loves wet food but needs to be restricted to having small quantities or an adopter who is willing to experiment with proteins as she matures. Not surprisingly, she also loves Churu.
While we generally recommend that kittens are adopted in pairs or that you have another young kitty in the home, Harlow could be happy with an adult cat or even as a singleton whose humans are typically home. She is sociable and would do well with children who have been taught to be respectful to animals. She would likely do fine with a respectful dog as well.
