Gus

GUS is an ORANGE WITH WHITE MINUET (a hybrid mix of Persian and Munchkin cat breeds) with light green eyes. He just turned 8 years old, has his claws, is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative, and microchipped. This little chap weighs 8 lbs.

Gus was very much loved by his previous family, but the addition of a second dog was too much for this little guy, so with a heavy heart they asked SPCR if we could take him into foster care and find him a great new home. Of course we said YES.

Gus’s foster parents have been charmed from the moment he sauntered out of his carrier and they laid eyes on this little cat. As a matter of fact, his foster mom has decided to award him with a Gold Medal for being a very respectful, sweet, polite and non-intrusive little furry gentleman with excellent manners. Even with the deduction of a couple of points for trying to taste the non-toxic ponytail palm, he still earned enough points to secure him a Gold Medal ☺️

One look at this stunning little cat and OMG, what’s not to swoon about. Because of his Persian heritage, Gus has a very soft fur that does not seem to be prone to too much matting, but he still needs to be brushed regularly. He enjoys being brushed, so that should not be a difficult task.

Gus is not a lap kitty, but as soon as he sees his foster mom and she calls him, he comes running. He likes being close to his people, but is also comfortable minding his own business by sitting on the tall cat tree and watching what is going on around him. His foster mom has noticed that he does not appear to be a play monster, but perhaps in a home where he can get more one-on-one attention from his new people, he may want to engage a bit more in some play time. He does enjoy spending a little time wrestling with the Kickeroo cat toy.

He has met his foster parents’ older, respectful kitties without any issues and he has even befriended his foster buddy Beeja (who is also posted on our website). However, his previous owner suggested that he would be best suited as either an only kitty so he can get more of the attention he deserves, or he can cohabitate nicely with a similarly relaxed kitty. Although he did live with two dogs before, the loud barking stressed him out so we would not want to send him to a home that has dogs or is planning on getting a dog. Older, respectful children who aren’t too loud should be okay for him, but young children will send him into hiding.

Gus came in with a dry urinary prescription food since the stress had caused him some urinary issues. His foster mom is an advocate for also providing wet food for her own and her foster cats to assure proper hydration and since Gus loves his wet food, we would like to find him a home that will continue to offer it. He is using his litter box perfectly.

Whoever will be the lucky adopter of this little gem, please be prepared to pry him out of foster mom’s arms on the day of the adoption as she is extremely fond of him.
