Duchess

DUCHESS is a 1.5 year old FLAME POINT SIAMESE MIX. She weighs 7.5 lbs, is spayed, FIV/FELV negative, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and has all of her claws.

Duchess came to SPCR from a shelter in another state. She has a very unique personality. When she visited the vet with her foster mom, she roamed the exam room casually and then found the perfect opportunity to escape when the door opened for the vet tech. What chaos ensued when she streaked into the hallway! She had to have been proud of herself. A mere 10 minutes later, after her exam was complete (during which she was a complete angel), she again explored the room but decided to take a nap on a chair in the corner instead of plotting another escape.

She prefers to be mostly independent of humans, but loves being part of the roving cat pack at her foster home. She’s always following the resident cat around, looking for adventure and trouble. They don’t cuddle or show each other affection when it’s time to rest. If there are other cats in the home, it might be best if they are also young, active cats. She is not a lap cat, but tolerates being held. She likes being petted, but not as much as some cats. It’s possible that after spending so much time in a shelter, she will become more dependent or affectionate when she gets used to her forever home, but it’s not guaranteed. She hisses at the large, boisterous resident foster dog’s attempts to play with her, but lets the dog sniff her and doesn’t mind being in the same room when she’s left alone.
