Curry
CURRY is an ORANGE PERSIAN with big amber eyes. He has a bit of a serious look on his face but his personality is full of sunshine and sweetness. He is 5 years old, neutered, has his claws, is up to date on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and microchipped. He weighs 9 lbs.
Curry’s owner was no longer able to take care of him and contacted SPCR to surrender him into foster care. His foster mom was only too happy to have the opportunity to foster this adorable orange, fluffy, and sweet cat.
Curry is one of those little guys that makes himself right at home. No hiding or slinking away, but right out in the open, greeting people, rolling around happily, exposing his belly for rubs, purring and being oh so darn cute. If someone has a bad day, one look at this little charmer and you can’t help but smile and feel happy. His fur is very soft and petting him almost makes his foster mom want to purr herself. He makes a cozy lap warmer when his foster mom lies down for a nap. He has a soft meow and will vocalize sometimes when he wants to be around his people and needs some attention.
Although Curry’s fur is not too prone to matting, he still needs to be brushed daily, which he really enjoys. His eyes are nice and clear (they don’t appear to be prone to draining). For the most part he is a quiet little guy who is okay hanging out on the cat tree by himself for a while. When it’s time to engage in some play time, he enjoys it when his foster mom swishes a mink wand toy or DaBird around for him to catch. He shows off his hunting prowess by jumping up high in the air to catch “da thing”. It is delightful to watch his athleticism and excitement. Since this is such good exercise and stimulation for him, his best home is with someone who is willing to engage in this type of interaction a few times a day.
Here is where it gets a bit tricky describing his personality as it relates to other felines. We were told that he lived harmoniously with a DSH Orange Tabby in his previous home. However, when we tested his cat compatibility in his foster home, he tends to be domineering with his foster parents’ cats. For that reason, his foster mom suggests that he should either be an only cat, or that he might be okay with another confident Orange Tabby, or a Persian (or similar breed) cat close in age and temperament and of course with very slow and proper introductions. His foster parents don’t have dogs, but could envision that a dog who loves his cat buddies could actually work well for him. We haven’t tested him with children, but given how comfortable he is around his foster parents, we think that cat savvy children will be fine for him.
Curry has excellent litter box habits. He eats mostly wet and a little bit of dry food. Since wet food is healthier for cats, needed for proper hydration and to keep his coat soft, we would like to find him a home that will continue to offer it.
