Bodie
BODIE is a 7 month old LILAC LYNX PERSIAN with light blue eyes. He is up to date on rabies and distemper vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, tested fiv/felv negative, neutered, and has his claws. He eats mostly dry food, and a little canned.
Bodie, was rescued by a good samaritan who found him wandering outside. She took him to her vet to see if he was chipped and belonged to anyone, but he wasn’t, and couldn’t find the owner. She was going to keep him, but found out he unfortunately had a broken spine. She already had 2 large special needs dogs so she couldn’t take on another special needs pet.
If you look at Bodie, he has a little different stride with his back legs, but if you weren’t looking for it, you would never know it. He walks, runs, jumps, and climbs with the best of them! Nothing stops him! He loves wrestling with other older kittens, playing with wand toys, hanging out on cat trees and his play center, chasing balls, yeowww banana, and laser lights.
Here’s the good news about his back injury:
He does not need his bladder expressed. He has urine and stool control. He is a lovable, independent little rascal that has a zest for life! He’ll greet you at the door when you come home, visit with you when you wake up in the middle of the night to use the “facilities”, play during the day, but comes by you often for pets, scritches, and kisses, and then off he goes again on a new adventure. He uses his litterbox faithfully.
The bad news about his injury:
He probably needs to be on a medicine called Bethanecal for life. It is to increase bladder contractions because the bladder had been weakened from the damage done by his broken spine. He gets 1/4 tablet daily, which I crush up and put in chicken broth and squirt it in his mouth. 30 day supply is about $3. You can also get it compounded into a cream to put on the inside of his ear, which will be more costly.
He has a tail that has some lift at the base of the tail but not at the tip of the tail because of nerve damage. That may or may not come back, because nerves regenerate very slowly. When this first happened the base was affected also but it’s coming back somewhat.
He is 100% with his litterbox with poop and 85% with urine. He pees small amounts at a time in the box and maybe 2x day he leaves a small piddle on the floor, which I easily wipe up. He has litterboxes which are placed at different locations, so they’re easy for him to get to.
After proper introductions, he gets along with everyone. He’s such a good boy and has a zest for life, and I know there’s someone out there that can give him a wonderful life and forever home.
