Bentley

BENTLEY is a precious BROWN TABBY PERSIAN with big amber eyes. He will be 4 years old in July, is neutered, has his claws, is up to date on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and is microchipped. He weighs 8.5 lbs.

Bentley came to us from a Humane Society where he was surrendered by his owner due to their dog harassing and bullying this little docile cat. Hiding every day just to avoid crossing paths with a dog is no life for a little cat, and our organization was only too happy to take him into foster care so we can help find him a permanent home where the new guardians can commit to not ever bringing a dog into their home.

Bentley’s foster mom became immediately smitten with this sweet little guy. Despite the serious look on his adorable face, he is a trusting and gentle little lamb. She gave him the necessary space for a couple of days, and also limited any hiding spots to ensure he was accessible for petting him. He is a bit on the shy and reserved side, but once he trusts you, he comes around for pets. He loves having his face and head rubbed and being brushed and will even expose his soft tummy so it can get brushed too. Since he seems to be a bit of a bottom dweller, he likes it best when his foster mom sits on the floor with him to give him some love; therefore someone who doesn’t mind spending a little bit of time on their floor with their furry companion would be ideal for him. Alternatively, he lets himself be picked up, deposited on a couch, and then one can resume petting and brushing him in a more comfortable setting.

During the day, Bentley likes to hang out on the window sill so he can observe what is going on outside. He does engage a little bit when his foster mom swishes around DaBird or the Mink Wand toy, so she would encourage his future guardians to play with him a couple of times a day to help increase his “kitty mojo”. He also enjoys some time with the laser toy and will bat around a crinkle ball on his own for a bit, though he is not the definition of a play monster as far as his foster mom can tell.

We haven’t had him for long so can’t really comment on it, but we were told that when you pat the bed or couch he will jump up to sit with you and be pet.  He can be very loving when he wants attention. He will jump at your leg and grab it when he wants petting or playing, but he does not use his claws. His foster mom feels that this is something his new parents will get to enjoy in the future as he evolves and becomes more comfortable in his new surroundings.

He has met his foster mom’s own cats without much interest on his part. So with proper introductions, we expect him to be fine with a similar breed and laid back kitty. We were told that he is good with children, as long as they are older, not too loud, and cat savvy. As long as his new home is and remains to be dog free, his foster mom knows he will bring joy, elegance, a calm presence and sweet kitty karma into the home.

Bentley’s coat doesn’t seem to be too prone to matting, but a daily brushing is recommended. His eyes should also be gently cleaned a few times per week. He eats both wet and dry food, with a preference for wet food, so we would like to find him a home that will continue to offer it to him. He has great litter box habits.
