Beeja

BEEJA is a GRAY MACKEREL TABBY SIAMESE/DSH Mix with green eyes. He is 4 years old, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and microchipped. This strapping boy weighs almost 16 lbs.

Beeja came into our rescue when his owners could no longer take care of him. Beeja was originally fostered by SPCR when he was a kitten, so we know that his momma was a Lynx Point Siamese, but his papa’s breed was unknown – it doesn’t matter, since he is a very handsome cat. His original foster parents did a wonderful job socializing this boy. He is a loving, friendly and confident boy who enjoys being around people. Despite being a big boy, he is gentle and just awesome as far as his foster mom is concerned.

His foster mom is intrigued by Beeja’s expressive and long tail that curls around his back. He doesn’t appear to be too much of a play monster, just more of a chill, calm and smart cat. He does play a little with wand toys when his foster mom swirls those around in the air for him to catch. He loves to munch on dry catnip and he can be a little chatty, especially when wants to make it clear that he would appreciate some food.

At one point in his life Beeja developed asthma. He is on a very low dose of Prednisolone which he gets twice a week. The medication is inexpensive and according to our vet very well tolerated by cats. The ½ tablet gets crushed and is sprinkled on his wet food, which he gobbles up without many issues. Our vet also mentioned that in the right environment the medication could be further reduced and only administered if he has an asthma episode. Because of this diagnosis, he is listed as Special Needs.

Beeja has lived with another cat before and he has met his foster parent’s cats. He is respectful with other cats, and seems to seek out their company, so with proper and slow introductions, he should do well with a playful cat that wouldn’t be intimidated by this big boy. He would also do well as a single cat in a loving home. Beeja grew up with a baby, now a toddler and was very tolerant of the child. His foster parents don’t have any dogs, but assume a chill and cat friendly dog would be okay.

Beeja is eating a little kibble and wet food. We recommend that his primary diet should be wet food because it provides proper hydration for his urinary tract, and will help keep him trim. He is using his litter box perfectly.
