Albert

ALBERT is an endearing ORANGE AND WHITE PERSIAN with big copper eyes. He is 3 years old, neutered, has his claws, is up to date on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and microchipped. He is a slender little cat at 7.6 lbs.

Sweet and innocent Albert found himself dumped at a shelter. He was completely matted and had a gash on his neck from where someone must have tried to cut out a mat rather unsuccessfully. When SPCR was contacted by the shelter, of course we said yes we would take him. Who can ever resist such a little sweetheart? Thanks to our amazing rescue organization, Albert received the Royal Treatment of his young life. He was neutered and shaved to remove the painful mats he was covered with. In addition, he received a much needed nares surgery so he can now breathe more easily, and also had his teeth cleaned.

Albert has a pretty typical Persian personality. He is loving, trusting, easy going, and very well behaved. As soon as his foster mom enters the room, he starts purring and making biscuits while sitting in his kitty bed. He enjoys being around people, and can also spend time hanging out by himself. He is playful but not overly so (at least not so far).

He makes a sweet snuggle buddy when his foster mom lies down for a nap, and when she watches some TV, he will often hang out on her lap. As far as his foster mom is concerned, he is absolutely perfect…well, except when it comes to eating. He makes a bit of a mess with his dry food (and at this point he does not seem to be interested in wet food). So if you aren’t okay with cleaning up some cat food strewn around a cat bowl, he might not be the right one for you.

When it comes to other cats, he seems to be a bit domineering (probably because of his recent neuter). Therefore we would prefer not putting him in a situation that could result in cat altercations. However, he might be okay with a confident cat around his own age, of course with slow and proper introductions.

His foster parents don’t have dogs, but could envision that a dog who loves his cat buddies could actually work well for him. We haven’t tested him with children, but given how comfortable he is around his foster parents, we think that cat savvy children will be fine for him.

Since he is currently shaved, his foster mom can’t comment on how much fur maintenance he will require once his coat grows out, but given how matted he was, preference will be given to adopters who are familiar with and committed to the daily upkeep of his fur. He also has a bit of eye drainage, so a daily eye cleaning will be optimal.

His foster mom would appreciate seeing a picture of him once his fur is grown out since she believes he will be one spectacular looking boy. Albert has excellent litter box habits, and as stated above, eats dry food topped with freeze dried raw morsels (which he especially enjoys).
