Ziggy

Lover Boy/ Lap Cat Alert❤️
Have you been looking for a kitty that wants to sit in your lap, loves to be pet , even his belly, and purr and make biscuits in the air all at the same time??? Then you need to say Hello to ZIGGY!  a 2 year old BLUE POINT HIMALAYAN, with those vibrant big blue eyes.  He is neutered, Up to Date on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, microchipped and has his claws.

Ziggy is truly a lover boy.  He walked out of his carrier when he first arrived at his foster home, briefly checked out his foster room before crawling into his foster moms lap looking for pets and then the purring and biscuit making started. He is a very social boy, who wants to be where his people are, follows both his foster parents around throughout the day and if he can be in your lap or right next to you that’s even better. He’s fine being picked up and held. And at night the cuddling continues as he loves to sleep on his foster mom or right next to her at night. Now you might think that’s all Ziggy is about (which is not a bad thing), but he is young and there are a few toys that get him motivated to run and pounce too!  He does talk a little bit, as he likes to trill, but it’s quiet so you have to listen for it. His purr is much louder!

Ziggy is one of the 8 Himalayan’s that found their way to SPCR when they were surrendered to an animal control facility when their owner was unable to care for them all. This breed can often require more daily maintenance than other breeds and such is the case for Ziggy.  His coat was severely matted when he was taken in by the facility, and so they trimmed him into a lion cut to allow him to feel better (sadly as often can happen with extreme matting cases his whiskers got taken off too when he was groomed, but we know they will grow back in as is his fur already!)   Going forward he will need daily brushing to keep his coat looking it’s best. But that’s easy to do as he loves to be brushed, he even likes his belly and under his legs brushed.   It’s very clear one of his parents was a flat faced Persian and so his eyes do drain, and why you see the staining on his cheek and leg that make him look like he’s got a bit of orange in his coat. Ziggy will need his face cleaned daily around his eyes and nose, but that is also something he doesn’t mind having done.  He has no problems breathing, but he does snore just a little at night sometimes.  He eats both wet and dry food, and uses his litter box 100%.

He has been introduced to some of his foster homes own cats and has been fine. He does see himself as a bit of a “ladies man”, but has learned they may not be so keen on his attention so is learning to be respectful of them wanting their space.

The best home for Ziggy would be with adults experienced with the care needed for this breed, and in a quiet environment where there was someone home often,  as he does love and thrives on that human connection.  Even though this guy is a lover, and wants to be where his people are, a busy active home with lots of noise and people coming and going and young children would be too much for him.  He may be ok in a quiet home, with older, respectful kids (11+)  that have grown up with cats. As mentioned above, he is fine with other cats, given a proper introduction. But he could easily be someone’s one and only cat too as long as there was someone at home most of time. No dogs.

Ziggy is a lover and he’s looking to share all the love he has to give in his forever home.  ADOPTION FEE $350. FOSTERED IN MILWAUKEE, WI
