Help a cat in need by becoming a transport host. Hosts temporarily house a cat or cats who are moving to a foster home within the SPCR network.
Hosting Responsibilities:
- 1Taking care of the cat in your care from time you receive to the time it leaves. Typically it is just overnight up to a few days until a transport can be set up. We will always communicate for how long when asking you to host.
- 2Keep the cats separate from any resident pets. These cats have not been cleared by a Specialty Purebred Cat Rescue vet prior to coming to you so we only know what the owner or shelter tells us. Therefore we need to keep everyone separated for everyone’s safety.
- 3Provide a clean safe room for the cat (s) to stay in. Including a kitty litter box, food and water (most cats come with some food. If they do not they can eat brands like fancy feast, pro plan etc.
- 4Note please remember these cat (s) are being thrown into a new environment with strangers, not all cats respond positively to that, therefore may hide under large pieces of furniture like a bed or dresser. Getting the cat out when the day comes may be stressful for the cat and may delay the start of the transport. So Please keep that in mind when choosing the best place to have them stay.
- 5The above being said please remember a scared cat may lash out, so be careful when handling the cat(s).
