Azzy

AZZY is a KHAO MANEE.   Her breed by its definition means that she is pure white with short sleek fur, absent of guard hairs.  Azzy has one light blue eye and one gold eye.  Azzy is 3 years old, weighs 9.2 lbs, has been spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, has her claws, and is up to date on vaccinations.  She has also been microchipped to ensure she can be reunited with your family if the need should arise.

Azzy came from a breeder’s home where she was given a great deal of freedom to hang out with Persians and to go outside with the German Shepherd Dogs. Azzy approaches to be petted and loved-on but also has some independence.   She is just now learning about toys as her previous toys were other living creatures outside.   She has been easy to trim her claws and requires very little brushing.

Azzy appears to be a well-travelled girl who may have come directly from Thailand, but is more likely a descendant of a cat who did.  As this fosterer was not familiar with the breed, research supports credibility to the claim.  Azzy has every physical quality of the Khao Manee breed.  She has short white fur, a pink nose, wedge-shaped head, and high cheekbones.  She also has a long, slender body.  She can be vocal due to boredom in the foster rooms, but rarely complains.  While Domestic Shorthair cats have a 3% incidence of bi-color eyes, Khao Manee cats have a 50% incidence of bi-color eyes.  The odds are in her favor.

To understand how cats from Thailand could be in the United States, aside from those who acquire them for breeding, there is a much easier path.  It is relatively well-known that there is a shortage of doctors and nurses across the United States and hospitals seek internationals to fill the void through International Work Visas.  It is likely very little-known that internationals can easily bring their cats to the USA with them.  Since the state of Illinois has about 25,000 nurses from abroad, it is entirely reasonable that the breeder had correct information that Azzy is from Khao Manee bloodlines.

Azzy’s new home could have cats, cat-friendly dogs, and/or children.  The main requirement would be not too many of everything.  She will still need space and independence.  She eats Pro Plan Complete dry food and especially enjoys her wet food too.
