Giovanni

GIOVANNI is a strapping ORANGE & WHITE SELKIRK REX with green eyes. He is 8 years old, neutered, has his claws, FIV/FeLV negative, and microchipped. This big boy weighs 14 lbs.

Giovanni came into rescue when his previous owner’s situation changed and they could no longer take care of him.

Giovanni’s foster mom has never had the pleasure of fostering a Selkirk Rex before, so she was very excited to make Giovanni’s acquaintance. What a cat! A quick web search states that the tousled appearance of the Selkirk rex, coupled with their laid-back attitude, brings new meaning to the saying, “Curly hair, don’t care.” This breed’s easy-going personality makes them as charming as they are beautiful. That description fits him to a tee. That is to say the foster mom is very smitten with this masculine, gentleman of a cat.

Giovanni comes ambling over as soon as he sees or hears his foster mom. He greets her with some fun meows and immediately starts purring his approval of being in her company. He also enjoys flopping on his back so the foster mom can bestow some belly rubs.

During the day, he will often sit on a window ledge and observe what is going on outside, and he also likes to hang out on the cat tree. Occasionally he will engage a little bit when foster mom swishes a mink wand toy around for him to catch, and he does get excited for a bit by bunny kicking a catnip mouse. Overall, he doesn’t appear to be the definition of a play monster, but rather a very chill and dignified cat who likes to hang out close to his human(s).

Giovanni lived with other cats where he got along well with an older cat but had some issues with one of the younger cats. He would probably do best as a singleton where he can soak up the undivided love and attention from his human(s). His foster home doesn’t have dogs, but because he is so friendly, confident, and outgoing, he might be okay with a cat-friendly dog who would ignore him. He is also great with children.

Giovanni eats both wet and dry food. He had a comprehensive wellness exam which declared he is in great shape. He is using his litter box perfectly.
