Maddie

MADDIE is a striking, SILVER SHADED MAINE COON with silky, long fur.  She is almost 4 years of age, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, FIV/FeLV negative, has her claws and is microchipped.

Maddie is a perfect example of her breed in that she has a solid build on a long body, is tall, has a square muzzle, and large ears that are tufted to a high point.  Even though she is a big cat whose facial expressions can be intimidating, she has a gentle soul, is timid and very sweet.

Maddie craves attention and is quick to climb into your lap with any hint of an invitation.  With her size, she is effectively a living version of a weighted blanket, but affectionate!  Maddie readily makes eye contact as if to ask if you are willing to rub her cheeks and neck or pet down her back.

Maddie’s belly is prone to getting tangled so an adopter will need to comb her often.  She makes it easy because she absolutely LOVES to be combed! Literally, she loves every bit of her body to be combed and for as long as you’re willing to do it!!  She flops onto her side, exposes her belly, rolls to the other side, and gets repositioned to do it again.  She flops onto the floor, onto a tower shelf, onto your lap, and sometimes rolls off accidentally.

Maddie came to SPCR as a surrender by someone who could no longer take care of her.  Aside from frequent brushing, she has basic needs of food, clean litter, and medical care.  Maddie had a dental with extractions and has been eating canned food as a result, but she enjoys high quality dry food as well.  She was easy to medicate, and she loved a Churu chaser to ensure the pill wouldn’t get stuck in her throat.  She also does well to have her toenails trimmed.

Maddie lives with another cat and would likely do well with a laid-back housemate (given proper introductions).  She would likely be petrified of all dogs so that isn’t an option.  While Maddie would likely perceive older children to be a source of affection, younger children under age 12 could cause her to go into hiding.
