Frankie
FRANKIE is a SEAL POINT RAGDOLL with blue eyes (one of her eyes looks a bit cross eyed). She is 15 years old, spayed, front-paw declawed, is up to date on vaccinations, and FIV/FeLV negative. This voluptuous girl weighs 16 lbs.
Frankie came into rescue when her previous owner passed away. Her foster mom quickly realized that this must have been a very difficult situation for this mature girl. She spent 15 years with her human dad, and then all of a sudden found herself uprooted and relocated to a completely different environment.
That is probably the reason that Frankie can be a bit fractious at times, or it may just be that she gets afraid or is unsure of what is going on, so she will vocalize and make it clear that she needs some space and extra understanding from her person(s). She doesn’t like to be picked up, but enjoys head scratches for a while. She also gets pretty stressed when you come at her with a brush for grooming. She may have had an unpleasant experience with brushing in the past. Thankfully she doesn’t need a lot of brushing.
Her foster mom has found that the best way to bond with Frankie is to offer her some yummy treats, such as Churos or bone broth, on a spoon. As we like to say in German “Liebe geht durch den Magen” (The English equivalent meaning is: The way through a man’s heart goes through his stomach. – or in this case it’s a cat’s heart and goes through her stomach 😉
Frankie’s foster mom believes that with time, patience, and understanding Frankie will become the loving companion that Ragdolls are known for. She is a low-energy gal and not much of a play monster though she will participate in a little bit of catch and release when her foster mom swirls around a mink wand toy (which will be sent home with her).
She can be quite vocal, from purring, to chirping, and when she’s had enough to growling. When she gets to the growling part of the conversation, her foster mom just laughs and leaves her in peace. After all, when I have a bad moment and I am done conversing, I want peace and quiet myself.
Frankie will do best in a quieter environment with less hustle and bustle. She will need some time to adjust and she will do best with someone who is familiar with and tolerant of the different vocalizations and body language of a cat. Her ideal home is with someone who enjoys the natural beauty and grace that a cat possesses, and being okay with a less needy cat. She seems to be used to spending a lot of time by herself, so someone who might not be home a lot but wants to come home to a fluffy companion would be just fine for her. Frankie deserves someone who wants to open their heart and home to a senior cat to live out her remaining golden years in comfort and peace.
We don’t know if Frankie has been around other cats in her previous home. Her foster mom has observed that she seems to be okay with a docile cat that would give her plenty of space and leave her alone, but she certainly can be an only cat. A cat friendly older dog who would leave her alone might be okay. No young children for her.
She eats dry food, has had a senior wellness exam, and is using her litter box appropriately.
