Project Description

VELVET is an 9 month old blind black DOMESTIC LONGHAIR kitten from Egypt who has his claws. Velvet came a long way to find a home in America! Poor Velvet was living in the rocks in Egypt so we are not sure why he is so loving but he is super friendly and purrs all the time. He loves to play with toys. Velvet is very good with other cats. However, he is too rough with small kittens.  He senses the motion when they are running and jumps on them.  He would be fine with a calm dog that will leave him alone. As blind cats map their surroundings and memorize them, Velvet would not do well in a home with small children who leave out toys or in a family who frequently moves furniture.  Currently, Velvet does not go up or down stairs. By choice he stays on the second floor of the foster home. He does greet his foster mom  every time she goes upstairs. He also waits in the bathroom when his foster mom gets ready for work and he has also recently  started sleeping in bed with his foster parents. Velvet may eventually climb stairs but he needs to learn this at his own pace. He spends most of his time on the floor or on the very lowest level of a cat tree. The best home for Velvet is someone who can offer him one floor of a house,  or a full apartment.
