Project Description

May is a BLACK AND WHITE BICOLOR AMERICAN CURL/PERSIAN MIX. She is 2 years old, spayed and has her claws. She was originally purchased from a breeder and sounds like quite a ‘designer cat’.  May has a short, Persian doll-face and the large curled ears of the American Curl.  She also has a fabulous medium-length black and white coat and a long tail that forms a plume like many American Curls.

May starts off shy but once she warms up, she is a very friendly and people-oriented kitty.  She is great with older, respectful children, but will find small, screaming, chasing ones overwhelming.  May also loves to talk and will chat back when you speak to her.  She makes a variety of different vocalizations, including a pigeon-like coo.  May loves being near (and on) people and will complain when left alone, so we hope her new family finds her soon!  She is much more high energy than your average Persian and likes to climb in and out of laps, run around, and fulfill her curiosity by exploring.  She is also quite addicted to chasing the laser pointer dot.  May will stop whatever she is doing to chase the laser pointer dot and will seek it diligently when it has disappeared. May is definitely an equal opportunity lap snuggler and will take any lap she can find, though only for short bursts.  She enjoys the height of a cat tree and sleeps on the tallest perch.  She hopes that her future family will let her have a cat tree because it is so much fun to go up and down. May was surrendered by her former owner because she was scared of the multiple dogs and territorial with the cats.  She will hide from dogs, so a dog-free home or a home with catification for her to escape the dogs would be best.  May will also not share a litter box with other cats, though she does play with them.  For these reasons, May should go home as an only pet but if you have a cat or dog and wish to consider adding May to your family, you may discuss your options with the foster to see if it is a possibility. ADOPTION FEE $275. Fostered in Oak Park, IL.
