Oliver

OLIVER (aka Ollie) is a LYNX POINT AND BROWN TABBY SIAMESE MIX with lovely blue eyes in a face enhanced with beautiful markings. He is 4  years old, neutered, has all his claws, is up to date on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and is microchipped. He weighs close to 16 lbs.

Ollie’s foster mom is very taken with this magnificent, sweet and docile big boy. He pulls on her heartstrings because of how nice he is…he is one of those big boys that wouldn’t hurt a fly. Ollie was surrendered to our organization because he was very stressed in his previous home. High-energy dogs and a cat that never really accepted Ollie and played rough with him was just too much for him and sent him into hiding for most of the day.

In foster care he mostly likes to hang out in his kitty condo, but when his foster mom enters the room and calls for him, he comes out for his share of pets. A 10-15 minute massage gets him purring and snuggling up to foster mom. He also enjoys getting brushed, and trimming his nails is an easy task.

When it’s time for the foster mom to take a break and watch her favorite Netflix show, she picks up this wonderful boy, carries him into the TV room, plops him on her lap, and that’s where he likes to hang out. He is one of those kitties that doesn’t seem to get overstimulated by being gently stroked for quite some time. He will sometimes lay himself on her chest to stare at her face which she finds simply irresistible.

During his vet visit it was discussed that Ollie should lose some weight, but it has to be done very gradually over 4-6 months. The vet feels that around 14 lbs. would be a more ideal weight for him. There has been lots of research done on the benefits of a wet food diet for cats (lower in calories and better for proper hydration), so his foster mom has switched him to wet food only which will help with a gradual weight reduction.

Since Ollie has lived with animals before, he might be okay with a very docile, laid back kitty, but will probably gain confidence and blossom more quickly in a household without other kitties. We do not want to place him in a home with dogs, no matter how gentle the dog(s) might be. Older, cat savvy children that aren’t too loud or rambunctious and could help him develop his kitty mojo by playing with him should be fine.

If you expect instant trust and bonding with your kitty, Ollie may not be the right fit for you. He will need time and patience to earn your trust, but his foster mom knows this gentle soul is absolutely worth the extra time it may take.

He is using his litter box without any issues. If you can offer him a home where he won’t be bullied, harassed or neglected, but instead will receive love, affection and attention, we would love to hear from you.
